A new study published in JAMA suggests that regular consumption of caffeinated coffee and tea may be associated with a lower risk of dementia, based on over four decades of data from more than 130,000 participants.
The research, led by investigators from Mass General Brigham, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, analyzed dietary records from the Nurses’ Health Study and the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study. Participants were followed for an average of nearly 37 years, during which 11,033 cases of incident dementia were recorded.
