Nigel Farage is conducting a comprehensive tour of Britain in the final three weeks leading up to the local elections on May 7, 2026. The Reform UK leader is attempting to transition his party from one that governs a small number of councils in England into a serious party of government.

As of April 14, 2026, Farage has completed approximately 40 campaign visits. His current itinerary includes a sequence of travel starting with a news conference in central London, followed by flights to Aberdeen for a members’ rally, and further travel to the Shetland Islands, Glasgow, and back to London.

Campaign Strategy and Regional Focus

Farage has stated that campaigning is the most enjoyable part of his role. He does not write formal speeches for his rallies, instead utilizing a method he describes as the rule of three, where three distinct points are weaved into his delivery.

In Scotland, Farage’s campaign pitch focuses on three primary areas: the perceived failure of successive Scottish governments to deliver results, the expansion of oil and gas production, and the reduction of income tax.

This approach to leadership contrasts with the habits of the prime minister. While the prime minister typically spends flight time in meetings, reviewing briefing notes, or working through a red box, Farage spends his travel time discussing schedules with his team and relaxing.

Ipswich Town Controversy

The campaign has faced scrutiny regarding a visit to Ipswich Town’s Portman Road stadium on March 24, 2026. Although the club initially claimed the visit was part of a private tour and denied knowledge of an invitation, BBC reporting indicates otherwise.

Messages obtained by the BBC suggest that James Pearce, a long-time consultant for the club, contacted Farage via LinkedIn. Pearce sought to facilitate a meeting with Nigel and the club chairman, Ashton. While Pearce later confirmed he attempted to arrange the meeting, he stated that Ashton was not aware the approach had been made at that time.

Following these exchanges, Reform UK contacted the club and arranged a stadium tour. During the visit, Farage filmed a promotional video featuring club branding and sponsors. The footage showed Farage sitting in the home dressing room with a Farage 10 shirt, with several other identical shirts hanging behind him.

Ipswich Town eventually described the visit as apolitical, stating that the club did not support or endorse any individual party.

Political Pressures and Local Outreach

Beyond the stadium visits, Farage has engaged in various regional events, including a live tour in Yorkshire on March 24, 2026, alongside Dame Andrea Jenkyns.

The campaign has not been without friction. When questioned regarding promises that Reform UK has failed to keep, Farage expressed irritation, stating, We’re not North Korea.

Farage continues his tour of Britain as the party seeks to increase its electoral footprint ahead of the May 7 polling date.
