[경제]Caught 2.3 tonnes of drug smuggling for 5 years… Increase in new drugs such as ‘Mulpong’

The amount of narcotics smuggling caught in the last five years has been more than 2,000 kg.

The biggest was the smuggling of methamphetamine, but the smuggling of new drugs such as ‘Mulppong’ has been on the rise in recent years.

Methamphetamine, commonly known as methamphetamine, is poured.

Hundreds of kilograms of methamphetamine are also found inside the kitchen ventilation system brought in as cargo.

When I unwrapped the shipping container, hundreds of kilograms of cocaine were hidden.

As such, the amount of drug smuggling detected by the Korea Customs Service last year was 1,272 kg, or more than 1 ton.

This is the largest scale since the opening of the Korea Customs Service.

Over the past five years, it has been estimated that more than 2 tons of narcotics have been caught trying to sneak into Korea.

During the same period, the amount held reached 2.2 trillion won.

In July this year, 268 kg of drugs worth 26.6 billion won were seized.

By type of drug, methamphetamine was the most trafficked over the past five years, followed by cocaine.

Apart from methamphetamine, the amount of smuggling of new drugs, such as psychotropic drugs and transient narcotics, also increased last year.

Among them, GHB, known as ‘mulppong’ and used for sex offences, reached 29kg last year alone.

Drug smuggling is mainly done through international mail, express cargo, and air passengers. Last year, 403 kg of methamphetamine and 400 kg of cocaine were found in import and export cargo.

By country, drugs were mainly imported from South America, such as the United States, China, Mexico, and Peru.

The prosecution decided to build a database on drug smuggling organizations to strengthen international cooperation, and form an investigative advisory body with relevant agencies such as the National Police Agency and the Korea Customs Service to take strict measures.
