■ A research team led by Professor Ji-Won Jang from the POSTECH Department of Life Sciences announced on the 21st that they have confirmed that the protein ‘ZBTB12’ acts as a molecular barrier to prevent the de-differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSC). It is expected to be used to discover the cause and treatment of various diseases such as aging and cancer. The research was published in the international journal Nature Communications.

■ Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) Professor Inchan Kwon’s research team announced on the 21st that they had developed an ‘eco-friendly biocatalytic reaction system’. The advantage of this system is that it produces compounds such as drugs, energy and materials efficiently while having little environmental impact. The results of the research were published online on the 14th of last month in the international journal ‘ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering’.

■ The Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST) announced on the 21st that it held a business agreement ceremony for the mass production and commercialization of magnetic micro sensors with Kwangwoo, an EV advanced material. Both companies aim to enter the foreign market by commercializing using DGIST’s original technology.
