A British Conservative MP was stabbed to death by a gunman at a meeting with local residents.
Foreign media such as the BBC reported that on the 15th local time, Conservative Representative David Aimes was stabbed to death while attending a regular event to meet with residents in his constituency.
At the time of the crime, Senator Aimes was meeting with a resident at a church in the Southend West of Essex, a constituency, when the suspect entered the church and was said to have wielded a weapon.
Police arrested a 25-year-old male suspect at the scene and are investigating the exact motive for the crime.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he was “deeply shocked and heartbroken” and mourned “Aimes was a beloved friend and colleague.”
In the UK, Labor MP Jo Cox was shot and killed by a far-right man while campaigning against the EU exit in 2016 ahead of the UK referendum to leave the EU.
