The 14th BRICS Summit was held via video with the participation of leaders of China, Russia, India, South Africa and Brazil.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, who presided over the meeting, said he would avoid Cold War thinking and group confrontation and oppose the abuse of sanctions.
It expressed opposition to Western sanctions against Russia and criticized the establishment of a US encirclement network in China.

Russian President Putin has gone one step further and proposed that the five BRICS countries build their own economic sphere.
BRICS claimed that it could “build its own economic bloc against the West,” he said, “with a population of 3 billion, accounting for 25% of global GDP, 20% of trade and 35% of foreign currency reserves.”
In addition, he raised his voice to establish an international settlement system among the BRICS member states and to seek the creation of a key currency in response to Western financial sanctions.

BRICS leaders adopted the Beijing Declaration after meeting
The Beijing Declaration said it “supports negotiations between Russia and Ukraine” regarding the war in Ukraine, but did not comment on the sanctions imposed on Russia by the West, including the United States and Europe.
China and Russia both expressed their opposition to the sanctions, but it is interpreted that they did not get the consent of the other three countries.
