CNN reported that former President Trump’s impeachment bill, passed in the US House of Representatives for inciting a civil war, could be sent to the Senate as early as the local time.
CNN, citing sources, said Democrats in the House of Representatives are discussing a plan to send Trump’s impeachment bill to the Senate on the 22nd, two days after President Biden took office.
Politico, a media outlet for political affairs, said it could be as early as the 22nd, with House Speaker Pelosi expected to send the impeachment bill to the Senate within a few days.
However, Pelosi said at an interview that “the Senate has informed us that it is ready to receive it,” but did not disclose the specific timing of the transmission.
It is known that the reason why the sending time is not clearly stated is that if the Senate’s impeachment trial is confirmed by the sending of the impeachment bill, public attention will be focused and the agenda of integration and crisis response promoted by President Biden may be buried.
