IMF “Economic outlook for next year is bleak… China is more serious”

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has predicted that global growth is likely to fall below 2% next year due to a slowdown in Europe, China and the United States.

In particular, they were concerned about a slowdown in China, the world’s second largest economy.

Kristalina Georgieva, head of the International Monetary Fund, has warned that the global economic outlook for next year is bleak.

The possibility of global economic growth falling below 2% is said to be increasing due to the outcome of the war in Ukraine, rising food and energy prices, and the economic slowdown following the Corona 19 lockdown in China.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecast next year’s global economic growth rate at 2.9% in July and lowered it to 2.7% in October, which could fall below 2%.

The IMF will update its economic outlook in January next year and said the situation is worsening based on recent consumer and investor sentiment.

Georgieva pointed out that the current serious situation in China is a concern for the next year.

Georgieva said she will travel to China next week along with leaders of other international organizations.

He said he hoped to discuss serious issues facing the world with the Chinese leadership.

Earlier, Georgieva highlighted the need to recalibrate China’s containment policy, saying that China’s Corona 19 containment policy has dealt a heavy blow to China and the world economy.
