Security officers at the Qatar World Cup Stadium are alert to terrorism and pay attention to preventing the wearing of various rainbow colors.

Grant Wall, a football journalist who works for CBS in the US, claimed on Twitter that “the security guard did not allow him to enter the stadium, saying the rainbow t-shirt he was wearing was not allowed wear it because it is a political outfit. “

The International Football Federation (FIFA) previously announced a de facto ban policy, such as giving players a yellow card, not a fine, for wearing a ‘rainbow armband’, which has a strong meaning in support of sexual minorities.

As a result, England and Germany captains Harry Kane and Manuel Neuer, who announced their wearing at the cost of a fine, had no choice but to quit under such strong FIFA sanctions.

The wearing of rainbow armbands has been interpreted as a protest against discrimination by European teams in Qatar, where various human rights debates such as the oppression of LGBTI people and the exploitation of immigrant labor have arisen before the tournament.

The US government has launched a public criticism of FIFA sanctions for wearing rainbow colours.

FIFA has respected the cause of the rainbow armband, but has a principle that sports must be free from politics, so it has restricted the wearing of accessories and ceremonies that can be interpreted politically, and has introduced related rules (Article 13, Paragraph 8).

However, FIFA could not stop British TV commentator Alex Scott (38) from wearing a rainbow armband and stepping out in front of the camera at the match between England and Iran on the 21st.
