(Gunpo = Yonhap News) The city of Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 29th that it had prepared a special lecture on the observation method of ‘Perseus meteor shower’, one of the three major shooting stars.
The Perseus meteor shower is a phenomenon in which the debris left by Comet Swift-Turtle in outer space collides with the Earth’s atmosphere and burns, causing falling stars like rain.
It is considered one of the three major meteor showers along with the Quadrant meteor shower in January and the Gemini meteor shower in December.
This special lecture is hosted by Nuri Astronomical Observatory, Daeya Library, Gunpo City, and will be held on the 6th of next month at 8 pm on the real-time video conference platform Zoom.
Kang Bong-seok, an astronomical expert at Nuri Astronomical Observatory, will serve as a lecturer and teach you how to effectively observe meteor showers.
