Controversy over so-called ‘eat and run’ by foreign companies is not uncommon.

Subsidiaries made in Korea leave only the shell behind and the profits are driven to headquarters, and then the subsidiaries are closed.

This time, the Korean subsidiary of Denso, a global auto parts company in Japan, has been the subject of controversy.

MBC has obtained a confidential document containing the company’s liquidation plan.

First of all, reporter Cha Joo-hyuk will tell you.

Korea Wiper, which supplies wipers to Hyundai Motor Company.

Denso, the world’s second largest auto parts company affiliated with Toyota, is a 100% owned Japanese company.

At the shareholders’ general meeting in July this year, it was decided to liquidate, that is, to close the business.

Wiper Korea has 280 employees.

Labor and management even signed an employment security agreement in October last year, but were at risk of losing their jobs due to a sudden liquidation in just nine months.

“I will liquidate the company in one day, so get out. What are these people going to do? We have nowhere to go.”

It emerged that the liquidation had already been carefully prepared two and a half years ago.

An internal confidential document written in Japanese in February 2020.

From the first chapter, a plan to reduce sales volume and number of employees quarterly and to liquidate in December 2024 appears.

We also analyzed the current state of the trade union and devised a plan for stockpiling inventories in case of a strike.

In the long term, we even established an alternative production plan to supply to Hyundai.

In this scenario, Wiper Korea and Denso Korea executives also had a countermeasure meeting with Hyundai Motors officials.

In order to prevent the leakage of confidential information, Hyundai has even requested security protection.

“Hyundai should have asked. Denso Korea would have explained the reason. ‘It’s for liquidation.’

Another top secret document called ‘Rainbow Incentive Review’.

If the company manages to liquidate as planned, it is said that the president will be given 428,000,000 won in addition to 42 months of salary along with special comfort and success pay.

We promised incentives of 200 to 300 million earned to two executives and three managers.

However, the successful payment can only be received through the early retirement of employees and compensation within 18 months of salary.

“It’s a very typical ‘eat-and-run’. It’s not that the company is closing down because it’s difficult, but I’m going to liquidate the company before that.

The liquidation scenario has already become a reality.

Hankook Wiper has stopped production of 27 wipers and is accepting resignation requests from its employees.
