[이데일리 스타in 김보영 기자] Big Bang member TOP (real name Choi Seung-hyun) is the first Korean celebrity to go on a space flight.

According to multiple officials on the 6th, T.OP was chosen as one of eight artists to participate in the ‘#dearMoon’ space travel project planned by Yusaku Maezawa, a famous Japanese billionaire. The ‘#dearMoon’ project is due to be implemented next year (2023).

Maezawa Yusaku is a billionaire entrepreneur famous for the founder of the e-commerce company Start Today and the founder of Japan’s largest online shopping mall, Zojotown. He is also known as an art collector. He is known as ‘Japan’s Elon Musk’ for his unique ideas and unconventional moves, and in 2018, he was reported to be the first civilian to tour the moon aboard the SpaceX BFR spacecraft in 2023, pulling public attention.

Along with this, Maezawa Yusaku announced that he would collaborate with eight artists on his trip to space as part of an art project called ‘#dearMoon’. In particular, he attracted attention by revealing that he would bear all the travel costs of the eight people chosen. In this process, two eligibility conditions were introduced: △The possibility of helping mankind and society by growing significantly through space travel, and △The ability to ‘support’ (support) a traveler. The space flight project is planned to take place over six days in 2023.

Previously, Maezawa Yusaku revealed their friendship by posting pictures of TOP and Lee Byung-hun’s meeting on his SNS in September. Accordingly, attention was focused on whether T.OP and Lee Byung-hun would join Maezawa Yusaku’s space travel project. It is not yet confirmed if Lee Byung-hun will join the project along with TOP.

Meanwhile, TOP, who made his debut as a member of the group Big Bang in 2006, left YG Entertainment in February. Declaring that he stands alone, he transforms into a wine entrepreneur and reveals the current situation. He has yet to take any steps to return to the entertainment industry.
