Minister of Public Administration and Security Lee Sang-min held a critical response meeting for the Itaewon accident at the Seoul Government Complex at 09:00 on November 30th.

We pray for the rest of those who died in this accident, and we deeply sympathize with the bereaved families. We also wish those currently in hospital a speedy recovery.

At today’s meeting, we reviewed the support for the bereaved and the injured, followed by ▴the operation of the Itaewon Public Administration and Disaster Safety support group, ▴measures to support small businesses in the Itaewon area, and ▴ support status to the one-stop integrated support centre.

Starting today, November 30, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security will operate a dedicated organization to support bereaved family councils, etc. The support team of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security will support the establishment of the bereaved family council and communicate with the bereaved family at any time. In addition, we will support and respond promptly to various requests, such as placing communication points and memorial points, in collaboration with related ministries.

We will reduce the difficulties of small and medium businesses and small business owners who operate shop-like businesses in Itaewon 1 and 2-dong. The Seoul Metropolitan Government will support low-interest loans by using the Itaewon Commercial District Recovery Fund after screening applicants until December 14th.

The one-stop integrated help center, which has been in operation since the 9th, received 329 civil complaints and all of them were completed by November 29th. We will continue to do our best to minimize the inconvenience to the bereaved families and those who have been injured.
