The mother of the ‘Gumi 3-year-old girl case’ who was transferred to trial on charges of swapping with her real daughter’s child to hide the fact that she was born, was sentenced to a suspended prison sentence.
On the 2nd, the 1st Criminal Prosecution Division (Chief Lee Sang-gyun) of the Daegu District Court overturned the lower court in the remand trial for Mr. Seok (50, female), who was accused of kidnapping a minor, and sentenced him to 2 years in prison and 3 years probation.
The judge explained the reason for the sentence, saying, “As a result of holding an additional hearing on the accused, it is difficult to see that he kidnapped a minor.”
Previously, the courts of the first and second trials sentenced Mr. Seok to 8 years in prison, but the Supreme Court sent the case back to the Daegu District Court, saying, “We must prove the facts of the prosecution through proof that the prosecution is convinced.”
