(Seoul = Yonhap News) A North Korean man who was imprisoned in a Chinese prison for committing robbery and injury after smuggling into China from North Korea has escaped from prison.
It was around 6 pm (local time) on the 18th that North Korean Joo (39), who was serving a sentence in Jilin Prison in Jilin Province, China, escaped.
In the CCTV video released at the time, while the prison staff was watching, Joo climbed up the temporary building and broke the electric wire using the rope he had prepared in advance and escaped over the fence.
Joo’s whereabouts are currently unknown.
Authorities revealed Zhu’s outfit and offered a bounty of 150,000 yuan (about 27.69 million won).
After smuggled into China in July 2013, Zhu broke into a private house and committed theft several times.
Ju, who was sentenced to 11 years and 3 months in prison, was later commuted to 14 months and was due to be released in August 2023. Let’s see the video.
