[오피셜] Chelsea officially announce loan to Inter Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku leaves Inter on loan

[골닷컴] Reporter Choi Dae-hoon = Premier League club Chelsea have sent Romelu Lukaku on loan to Inter.

On the 30th (Korean time), Chelsea announced on their official website, “Lukaku will spend the 2022-23 season at Inter. Lukaku will return to Inter, where they previously won Serie A after two seasons together.”

Before the 2021-22 season, Chelsea invested 113 million euros (about 154.2 billion won) in the signing of Lukaku, who led Inter to the league title, raising expectations for a new season. With the addition of an outstanding striker to coach Thomas Tuchel, who led the Champions League to the 2020-21 season, fans’ expectations were indescribable.

But Lukaku was very disappointed. The sluggishness was added to his goal-making ability that did not match his ransom, and the resentment of the fans grew day by day. Then came the shocking incident when an interview in which Lukaku said he was not happy at Chelsea was released. Lukaku said in the interview that he had the wrong timing and process for his return to Chelsea, and he outraged fans when he revealed that he would like to return to Inter when the time is right.

As a result, coach Tuchel had a meeting with Lukaku, and Lukaku seemed to be at an end with an apology through the club’s official channel. However, regardless of public opinion, his performance continued to be poor, and in the end, he recorded 15 goals and 2 assists in 44 appearances.

As Lukaku’s sluggish season came to an end, rumors about a transfer to Inter rekindled. Contrary to Lukaku’s hopes, Inter did not appear to be very interested in Lukaku’s return. Lukaku was left behind as there was no transfer fee required to sign Lukaku, and he was trying to sign Paulo Dybala.

However, Inter showed an attitude of stepping back from signing Dybala and pushed for Lukaku on loan rather than transfer.
