[전국]’Praying for peace through film’…Purple Pyeongchang International Peace Film Festival opens

The Pyeongchang International Peace Film Festival, which wishes for peace on the Korean Peninsula through films, has opened.

This is the third year since the Olympic Games were held.

Reporter Hong Seong-wook visited the International Film Festival that continues the Olympic spirit of peace.

The red carpet event to announce the start of the film festival, the Peace Film Festival was dyed purple, a combination of the colors of the South and the North.

On the so-called ‘Peace Road’, familiar faces of directors and actors appear one after another.

This is the third year since the Pyeongchang Olympics.

The Pyeongchang International Peace Film Festival kicked off at Medal Plaza, where the excitement of the Olympics remains.

The festival is run with 10 programs, including international feature competition and Korean short film competition, Pyongyang Cinema and Summer Film Walk.

The opening film is the animated film Shamanido, directed by Ahn Jae-hoon.

The work, which recreates novelist Dong-ri Kim’s short story with colorful colors, raises a fundamental question about what religion is for humans.

In the Pyongyang Cinema section, two feature films and four short films are screened. A representative example is ‘Moranbong’, a joint film between North Korea and France in 1958.

In addition, ‘Late Spring 2020’, which illuminates the life of the late Pastor Ik-Hwan Moon, who lived his whole life for peace and democracy, and a documentary about the human figure behind the screen of the longest-serving national MC Song Hae, welcome the audience.

The official slogan of the film festival is ‘New Hope’, which delivers a message of peace and hope to the audience through the film in a disaster-like Corona 19 situation.
