[정치]The government has been publicizing the ‘Bold Idea’… Will North Korea respond?

[앵커]

The government has launched a public debate by revealing the specific keynote for the implementation of President Yoon Seok-yeol’s road map to North Korea, the “Bold Initiative.”

If North Korea agrees to a comprehensive denuclearization plan, it is decided to increase support in stages, but it is not known if North Korea will respond.

‘Bold Initiative’, the policy direction of North Korea presented by President Yoon Seok-yeol in his opening address in May and his congratulatory speech for Liberation Day in August.

The government has decided on a “denuclearized, peaceful and prosperous Korean Peninsula” as the basis of its unification policy with North Korea, which embodies its bold plan.

At the same time, three major principles and five key tasks were revealed. First, if North Korea agrees on a comprehensive denuclearization plan, it is decided to increase support step by step.

Normalization of relations between the United States and North Korea was mentioned as a diplomatic measure, and plans were also presented for arms control as a military measure.

He also stressed that if North Korea returns to denuclearization talks, it will take initial measures that focus on projects to improve people’s livelihoods and discuss issues the North is concerned about.

However, it is unclear whether North Korea, which is about to conduct its 7th nuclear test following its recent series of provocations, will respond to the government’s North Korea policy.

Vice Minister Kim Yeo-jeong previously dismissed the bold plan as “quite stupidity far from being realized” and that it was nothing more than a copy of the Lee Myung-bak government’s “denuclearization, openness, and 3000” and would not never deal with it.

The government announced that it would further realize its bold plan by holding public seminars, gathering the opinions of experts from different fields, and receiving different opinions from the international community.
