Starburst is an accelerator specializing in aerospace startups in the United States. Founded in 2012, it has helped accelerate around 120 aerospace companies to date. He has nurtured unicorn companies with a corporate value of more than $1 billion (about 1.3263 trillion won), such as US space transportation company Momentus.

Starburst has been looking for a Korean aerospace company to establish and support a Korean branch in 2020. However, there are no Korean companies that have received investment yet.

Kim Sang-don, head of Starburst Korea, made a keynote presentation at the ‘Korea Space Forum 2022’ held at the JW Marriott Hotel in Seocho-gu, Seoul on the 29th and said, “We use innovation as the standard for investment . before business viability.” No,” he diagnosed.

He added, “Just as Korea’s aerospace policy has been a form of progression, startups tend to be as well.”

Governor Kim emphasized that the core value of a new business is ‘a challenge for new things and entrepreneurship’. “Innovation always comes with risks,” he said. “You need a spirit of challenge to take risks to achieve innovation.”

For example, it is explained that Korea may also challenge the construction of a space station. American space companies Axiom Space, Nanoracks, and Blue Origin are promoting the construction of their own space stations. Construction is expected to be in the late 2020s. Governor Kim said, “With the support of the Korea Aerospace Ministry, which will be built from scratch, Korean companies can also build such a private space station.”

He said, “Outer space is said to be vast, but the space that can actually be used is limited.” Korean startups need a challenge,” he added.
