尹 “Jeju 4·3 State Responsibility” ‥ Appointed Prime Minister Han Deok-soo in the afternoon

President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol attended the 74th anniversary of the Jeju 4.3 victims and said he would comfort the bereaved families and work to restore their honor.

President-elect Yoon will hold a press conference in the afternoon to announce former Prime Minister Han Deok-soo as the new government’s first prime minister candidate.

Yoon Seok-yeol, the first conservative or elected president, attended the Jeju 4.3 victims memorial ceremony.

President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol, who delivered a commemorative speech following Prime Minister Kim Bu-gyeom, expressed deep condolences to the victims of the 4.3 victims.

“We remember the painful history of the 4·3 and the innocent sacrifices of each and every one of them. We send our deepest condolences to the memory of the victims.”

Healing and caring for the pain of 4.3 in Chunyeomsa, President-elect Yoon emphasized that it is the Republic of Korea’s responsibility to move toward reconciliation, coexistence and the future, and emphasized that freedom and human rights are the natural obligations of a liberal democracy that pursues universal values.

He also said that he would make efforts to restore the integrity of the 4.3 victims and their families.

“The state will responsibly care for the lives and pains of the survivors and their families who have endured hard times.”

After the memorial service, President-elect Yoon moves to Seoul and directly announces the appointment of the prime minister at 3:30 pm at the Tongui-dong transition committee.

Former Prime Minister Han Deok-soo has been nominated as the new government’s first prime minister, and former Prime Minister Han is also expected to attend a press conference to express his impressions of the nomination.

It is said that President-elect Yoon met with a former prime minister for about three hours last night to discuss future cabinet appointments and the direction of state affairs.

With the nomination of the prime minister, the pace of subsequent appointments, such as the deputy prime minister for economy and ministers of various ministries, is expected to accelerate.
