[겜ㅊㅊ] 5 games that jump over the fourth wall like the beating literary club

※ [겜ㅊㅊ]is a corner that recommends games that gamers can enjoy based on a special theme each week.

It’s quite enjoyable to share a story with the characters on screen through unplayed scenes, but the beauty of the game is that this isn’t always the case. In particular, the conversation I had with Monica at the Thrilling Arts Club, a popular work, was an experience that could never be replaced. Kind eyes, clenched jaw, and the thrill of seeing the kind words that go beyond the game to myself as a player being engraved on the screen. It was a shock that the memories of the countless sisters I had met before disappeared in an instant.

In such an unexpected situation, beings who speak through the ‘fourth wall’ provide gamers with a rather surprising experience. But once you have this kind of motivation, there are times when you want to try something similar but new and fresh. For those of you like that, today I’d like to introduce you to ‘The Game That Overcomes the Fourth Wall’.

※ This week’s game contains some spoilers about the development and content of the recommended game, so if you don’t want it, please click the back button.

1. Darle is not a Game

The first game to be introduced is the game that became the predecessor to ‘Dear Is No Game: The Wrong Dimension’. “There is no such thing as a game here. From the description of the game, “I have nothing to do,” he clearly explains his identity. Released in 2015, this game is not a game for the first time. Even the letter O in the title is a work in progress.

When you start playing, the narrator in the program talks to the player like a new employee saying that you shouldn’t be fooled by your boss, and he keeps insisting that this program is not a game . But if you tell me not to do it, I want to do it more. This game aims exactly at that psychology, and it makes a game of talking, not a game. Although it has a short playing time, the game, which provides a different experience with clever composition, is provided for free, so if you have time, try it at least once.

2. Pet Shop after dark

Pet Shop After Dark is a horror point-and-click adventure game that tells the story of a protagonist who works a short-term part-time job for a day. The main character continues his work as usual, keeping in mind the shopkeeper’s words, “Water the plants, feed the animals, and don’t put out the fire.” Of course, in the process you will see that none of the animals are visible and all the cages and tanks are empty, but you still have to work. Because that’s work.

As you can immediately see with the screenshots, descriptions, and Steam popularity tags in the game introduction, the game has an uneasy atmosphere of not knowing what will happen in the process of working part-time. This anxiety is especially emphasized by the dark BGM which contrasts with the cute pictures. As the game description says, ‘Force quitting is an intentional factor’. I hope you are not surprised.

3. I’m afraid

If you’re not afraid of A Pet Shop After Dark, I recommend Imscared. The explanation that the download path must be C:, or the explanation that this game tries to trick you in as many ways as possible, makes you realize before the game that “Oh, there’s this game is going to trick me by playing around with my computer.”. In addition, the old graphics, which are difficult to see even in the 1990s, are even cruder. ‘Can this be scary?’ to make you think.

but last week [겜ㅊㅊ]As mentioned earlier, don’t ignore the horror that the old graphics and small screens cause. The game constantly stimulates the player’s primal fear in so many different ways. Players will be constantly challenged and harassed by the game as they traverse narrow and obscure spaces and collect unkindly listed clues.

4. Overdose of a Needy Girl

If you’re a little reluctant to play horror games, why not ‘Needy Girl Overdose’, a growth simulation and multi-ended adventure full of sparkling pastel shades? The player has a ‘little’ personality, but becomes a producer who helps the broadcast of ‘Ame’, who appears calm on the surface, collects subscribers, manages the broadcast, and grow towards the goal.

As with the producer, or P, found in most games, in this game the growth and decline of your character is determined by the results the player tells them to do. The goal is to find material together, improve Ame’s broken mentality, and broadcast step by step, overcoming failures and reaching a complete ending according to the role of P. From time to time, you will encounter a development dark because of the wrong choice, but if you go step by step, you will be able to make Ame’s wish come true. What will be the end of you and Ame who have reached their goal?

5. One Shot

The final game is a one shot that feels like a game that embodies the ‘cat saves the world’ meme. The player takes on Nico the ‘cat’ and embarks on an adventure to restore the sun to a collapsing world. The graphics reminiscent of the Tsukur game and the plain opening seem like a simple story to save the world, but the core of this game lies in the game’s ‘worldview’.

As the game progresses, the player may find it mundane, as the game progresses through what could be simple controls and puzzles. However, as shown in the game description, it is good not to forget that one shot can be considered to start properly the moment you realize that the game extends outside the game window. Also, don’t forget that this game only gives you one shot.
