The European Commission, the executive branch of the European Union, has proposed limiting the validity of the COVID-19 vaccination certificate to nine months and repeatedly urged countries to take a booster shot.
Recently, as the number of infections in Europe has increased rapidly, and countries have begun to tighten restrictions again, they have decided to revise the certificate regulations.

The EU issued a ‘digital COVID-19 certificate’ for EU residents in time for the summer vacation in July.
It is a certificate showing the completion of vaccination or recovery after a negative or positive test, and is intended to facilitate the free movement of the region and help the economy recover.
The EU Commission has proposed limiting the validity of this COVID-19 certificate to nine months.
After 9 months, if the booster shot is not taken, the validity will no longer be recognized.
Recently, as the number of infected people in Europe rapidly increased and countries started to tighten restrictions again, there was a growing concern that social movement in the region could be hindered.
The European Commission explained that it was taking into account the guidelines of the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention, which recommended that a booster shot be given six months after the completion of vaccination.
Just in time, the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned against the false belief that once vaccination is complete, there is no need to do anything else.

Last week, more than 60% of new COVID-19 cases and deaths reported worldwide occurred in Europe.
Although it has a relatively high vaccination rate thanks to the early availability of the vaccine, Europe is becoming a new center of the Corona pandemic because of breakthrough infection and vaccine omnipotence.
It shows that restoring pre-COVID-19 social mobility is by no means easy with just one or two vaccinations.
