The European Union, the EU police agency, Europol, through a joint investigation of six countries, has cleared a large drug gang that distributed one third of the drugs trafficked in Europe.
According to Reuters, Europol said in a statement on the 28th local time that it had captured 49 drug gangsters in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, who had been trafficking drugs to Europe.
From the 8th to the 19th, Europol conducted a large-scale joint investigation into drug smugglers in these countries with authorities from the United Arab Emirates, Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Spain.
Europol says the captured gangsters ran a huge distribution network that dealt in a third of Europe’s narcotics.
He added that the number of drugs the suspects were bringing into Europe was staggering, and that more than 30 tonnes of drugs had been seized during the investigation.
