[국제]Japan’s Corona Entry Regulations Prolonged… “About 370,000 Foreigners Waiting”

About 370,000 people, including international students and workers, are unable to enter Japan due to the strict immigration regulations that the Japanese government has maintained since the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported that of the 578,000 foreigners who have been issued a ‘Certificate of Eligibility for Residence’ by the Japanese government since January last year, 371,000 have not been able to enter Japan as of the 1st of last year.

Among them, 147,000 were international students and 111,000 were technical trainees.

The Japanese government issues a “Certificate of Eligibility for Eligibility” to foreigners who plan to stay in Japan for more than three months after examining whether they are suitable for the purpose of study or employment, etc.

However, as the Japanese government tightened entry restrictions due to the outbreak of the mutant virus in January, new entry into Japan by foreigners is virtually suspended unless there are special circumstances.

The Japanese government is planning to gradually ease entry restrictions after the general election on the 31st, but short-term business travelers who can limit the scope of action are expected to be prioritized, the newspaper predicted.
