[국제]Japan’s vaccine system ‘hole’…An elderly person who has been vaccinated with Pfizer 4 times in a month

In Japan, an elderly man in his 80s who received the COVID-19 vaccine four times in a month was confirmed.

On the 2nd, Japan’s Sankei Shimbun reported that a woman in her 80s living in Gifu made a mistake by vaccinating the Pfizer vaccine four times a month, citing an announcement from Gifu City.

According to the city of Gifu, this woman completed the first vaccination on June 7th with a vaccination ticket, and on June 19th, reported that she had lost her vaccination ticket and got it reissued. The second dose was given at a different institution than the first.
On June 28, the third inoculation was administered at the institution that received the first inoculation, and on July 11, the fourth inoculation was administered at the institution that received the second inoculation.
With this cross-site method, the woman was vaccinated four times in a month.

This woman’s ‘4th vaccination’ was revealed when a company entrusted with the cost of vaccination received a call saying, “There are more inoculations than the 2nd dose”.

Gifu City failed to find out that the woman had already received the first vaccination, and only believed the woman’s words that she had lost the ticket as ‘not inoculated’ and issued the vaccination ticket.

Gifu City has promised to thoroughly check records through the system in the future to prevent recurrence.

Pfizer vaccines are generally recommended to be given in two doses, separated by three weeks, but the woman has been given four doses in a month. However, it is reported that there are currently no special abnormal reactions in the body.
