The Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported that a UN report stating that North Korea has operated the Yongbyon test nuclear facility several times since December last year will be released next month.

The newspaper said that it had obtained a draft report of an expert panel submitted to the UN Security Council’s North Korea Sanctions Committee, and that the draft is expected to be published next month after undergoing discussion and revision by members of the Security Council.

According to the report, the draft report states that multiple tests appear to have been carried out based on infrared images of the experimental light water reactor in Yongbyon between December of last year and February of this year.

In addition, the analysis contents were also included, saying, “It seems that the external construction of the light water reactor has been completed, and equipment is currently being installed.”

The draft also pointed out that 364,000 tons of North Korean coal were exported to the Zhoushan region of Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China, at least 41 times between February and May of this year.
