[국제]Omicron spread continues… “Strong contagiousness, but low fatality rate”

Omicron, a new variant of COVID-19, is spreading freely in Denmark and other countries around the world.

However, Omicron is almost certain to have a stronger transmission power than the delta mutation, but a lower fatality rate, said Fauci, a White House medical adviser, diagnosed.

In Denmark, the number of patients infected with Omicron increased by 137 in one day, reaching 400.

Danish health authorities have warned of the seriousness of the situation, saying that Omicron has spread throughout society.

In the UK, the number of Omicron infections increased by more than 100, bringing the number of patients to 430.

As the new mutation of Corona 19 spreads with a frightening force, European countries are tightening the reins of entry control.

Contrary to expectations, the optimism that Omicron will not be fatal has been further strengthened.

White House chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci, director of the White House’s chief medical adviser, said initial review of data showed that omicron is more contagious than the delta variant, but it almost certainly appears less likely to cause severe symptoms.

Fauci told AFP that the best-case scenario is that Omicron is highly contagious but is less likely to cause serious illness or death.

However, in the case of South Africa, it is also mentioned that the number of hospitalizations for Omicron-infected patients may be due to the large number of young people, so we still have to watch the trend.

Fauci said that major additional data would be released next week, and that it would take several more weeks before a definitive conclusion about Omicron’s identity could be reached.
