[국제]Russia, ‘speed control’ to advance on the Eastern Front… Different tactics from the early days of the war

The New York Times reported that Russia, which is targeting eastern Ukraine, is using a tactic of advancing slowly, unlike in the beginning of the invasion.

The New York Times reported that the eastern area was fortified by the Ukrainian army through a 10-year civil war with pro-Russian rebels, and the Russian army is cautious in advancing by establishing defensive lines in various places.

The US War Research Institute analyzed in a report that “Russian forces are moving in a more robust pattern on the Eastern Front than in the past.”

Russian forces are steadily advancing toward Barbinko and Slovak, key points south of the Kharkiv Izium, which they occupied last month.

The War Institute analyzed that Russian forces were occupying the two cities to create a link with the pro-Russian rebel area of Donetsk.

The strategy is to combine the Russian and Donetsk rebels and encircle the Ukrainian forces in the east.

However, the Institute for Warfare pointed out that it is questionable whether the Russian army, already demoralized and fatigued by defeat in central Ukraine, will achieve its goal.
