The number of confirmed cases in South Africa, the epicenter of the new COVID-19 mutation, Omicron, has increased ninefold in the past four days.
According to the South African Ministry of Health, the number of confirmed cases increased from 312 on the 22nd to 868 on the 23rd, 1,275 on the 24th, 2,456 on the 25th, and 2,828 on the 26th.
The confirmation rate compared to the tester also increased more than threefold from 3% on the 22nd to 9.2% on the 26th.
So far, 77 people in South Africa have been confirmed with the omicron mutation and 990 suspected infections, but it seems that this number is likely to increase.
