[국제]Taliban “I had no intention of occupying the capital … Afghan government abandoned it”

A senior Taliban official told al-Jazeera that there were no plans to occupy Kabul, but Afghan government forces abandoned Kabul and assumed control.

On the 22nd, Abdulkahar Balki, a high-ranking Taliban official, said in an interview with Al Jazeera, “(We) wanted a political solution, we didn’t plan the Kabul plan.” “At that time, the Afghan security forces (Afghan government) abandoned Kabul, and inevitably took over control,” he added.

This interview was conducted in English while sitting face-to-face with a female reporter. Valky is a member of the Taliban Cultural Committee and served as an interpreter for the Taliban’s first official press conference on the 17th.

Valky also emphasized that the Taliban was different from what it used to be and that it would create an ‘inclusive nation’. “We are discussing the formation of a new government, which will be a ‘comprehensive system’,” he said. He also explained that they are discussing moving the capital from Kabul to Kandahar.

Kandahar is a city in southern Afghanistan that was founded and raised by the Taliban in 1994.

Regarding women’s rights, he said, “In Islamic law, women’s rights are not as vague as men’s or children’s rights,” he said.

Valky also explained that the violence and killing of civilians was not the intention of the Taliban.
“Our top priority is to establish internal discipline, and we plan to prosecute the crew if they get involved,” he said.

Regarding the international community’s view of them as terrorist groups, he argued that “not everyone sees us as terrorists,” and that “those who do not follow the will of the United States are labeled like that.”
