There is growing concern about the spread of Omicron, a new mutant virus of COVID-19 in Italy.
According to local media, the wife and two children of a man who was first diagnosed with Omicron infection in Italy on the 27th also tested positive for the mutant virus.
They are said to be self-isolating with no symptoms.
Italian health authorities are tracking the domestic movement of the first infected patient and are closely monitoring the possibility of additional infections.
The man, who returned from a stay in Mozambique, is known to have been living his daily life and traveling long distances without knowing that he was infected for about two weeks until he was diagnosed with Omicron.
