[국제]Van Gogh’s landscape painting stolen by the Nazis sold for 42.3 billion won

Vincent van Gogh’s landscape painting ‘Haystack’, which had been robbed by the Nazis, was sold at Christie’s auction in New York on the 11th local time for 35.9 million dollars, or about 42.33 billion Korean won.

This is the highest price of any of Van Gogh’s watercolors put up for auction, Reuters reported.

The expected winning bid for this work was between $20 million and $30 million, but it sold for a price that exceeded expectations.

Most of Van Gogh’s famous works are oil paintings, but this work he painted during his one year stay in Arles, France in 1888 was completed using paints and watercolors, as well as pen and ink.
