[단독] “Assaulting the disabled like a habit” … Suspicion of stealing salary

◀ anchor ▶

It turns out that people with severe disabilities living in facilities for the disabled have been repeatedly assaulted and abused by facility staff for over 10 years.

Even the salaries earned by the disabled were intercepted by facility officials.

Although the local government has inspected the facilities every year, it has been confirmed that there is no problem each time.

Correspondent Kim Seo-hyun reported exclusively.

A living facility for the disabled in which 30 people with intellectual disabilities live together.

A man suddenly starts kicking a disabled person sitting in the corner of a room.

“I’m stepping on it. I’m stepping on it.”

When the disabled man screams, he pushes his head against the wall.

” shut up.”

The same disabled person is kneeling, with his back on his back, and his forehead against the wall.

“You don’t eat. Don’t eat.”

Another day, he kicks a handicapped person who is crouching naked.

Seeing this spectacle, fellow disabled people show signs of fear.

A 30-year-old woman who was assaulted is a severely intellectually disabled person whose mental age is less than three or four years old.

The perpetrator, employee Park Mo, is the niece of the director of this facility.

A co-worker testifies that he has frequently used violence against people with disabilities for over 10 years because of ‘I don’t like it’ or ‘I don’t listen well’.

“When I entered the dormitory ten times, I did it that way at least eight times.

Most of the people with disabilities had little contact with their families, and it was difficult to express their opinions, so they were not able to inform the outside of this abuse.

Some employees who didn’t see raised the issue, but they were immediately dismissed.

“(I know that it was reported to the director) I remember that no action was taken. How did you hit him, how he did it, without asking…”

The salaries earned by the disabled were also taken away.

It was found that the younger sister of the chairman, who is the actual operator of the facility, had a salary of tens of millions of won.

“As in the investigative agency, all statements have not been completed yet… I do not want to participate in the interview.”

The advocacy organization for the disabled has separated the employee, Mr. Park, and is investigating the circumstances of embezzlement and abuse against the chairman and his sister.

Andong City, which has a supervisory duty, has inspected this facility every year, but each time it has been evaluated as ‘no problem’.
