On the 21st of last month, the body of a kitten was found in a stray cat food service area in front of an elementary school.

However, as a result of fingerprint identification of a male suspect in his 30s who was caught in 9 days, a clue to the additional crime was revealed.

First of all, the animal cruelty and murder cases that occurred one after another at a university in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do in 2019.

Four times, the cat’s paws were cut off or the body was damaged, and warning signs were always posted at the scene of the incident.

“Stop the activity (feeding for cats on the warning sign), otherwise the year will go to the cat.”

Six months later, in March 2020, a warning message was also found along with a dead cat hanging on a wall in the city of Pohang.

The contents of the warnings in these two cases were almost identical, raising the possibility that they were the same criminal, but the culprit could not be caught.

The police confirmed that the fingerprints of the man arrested yesterday and the fingerprints taken from the warning letter from the 2020 incident match.

All three incidents are highly likely to have been committed by this man.

The police are further examining the connection with about 10 cases of animal cruelty that have occurred in Buk-gu, Pohang, since 2019.

“It is a type of crime that is slightly different from the previous types of animal cruelty. If the body is hung by hanging in the same public place, there is a high possibility that it is almost the same criminal.”

The police requested the National Institute of Forensic Sciences to analyze the suspect’s DNA, and the prosecution requested an arrest warrant today.
