Chairman Kim said on the same day, “As we are the closest people to the president-elect, we ask that you join forces so that the ‘Yongsan era’ that the president-elect decided after checking various matters can be put into practice.” On the right is Ahn Cheol-soo, chairman of the acquisition committee. It was reported on the 29th that President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol’s side reported to the new government that the number of candidates for prime minister for the first time in the new government was tripled and reported to the elected person. Yun is expected to nominate the new government’s first prime minister candidate as early as this weekend.

It is known that the candidates condensed by Yoon-elect include former Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, Kim Han-gil, chairman of the National Unification Committee of the Presidential Transition Committee, and Park Joo-seon, chairman of the Presidential Inauguration Preparation Committee. It is reported that the first prime minister’s concept was focused on ‘economic experts’ and ‘national integration’. Former Financial Services Commission Chairman Lim Jong-ryong and former Minister of Knowledge Economy Choi Jung-kyung were also considered, but it is known that they are highly likely to be recommended as candidates for the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance.

It is reported that Ahn Cheol-soo, chairman of the Presidential Transition Committee, who was considered as the ‘last-minute variable’ in the election of the prime minister, conveyed his will to Yoon-elect on the same day, “I will not assume the office of Prime Minister.” Chairman Ahn plans to announce his position directly to the public at 10 a.m. on the 30th.

According to a key official from Yoon’s side, Chairman Ahn had a 40-minute interview with Yoon from 5:30 pm on the 29th and said, “I will return to the party without taking the office of the first prime minister.” The interview was held in the office of President-elect Yoon, Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.

A key official of the transition committee said, “Chairman Ahn seems to have decided that it would be right for him to return to the party after contemplating until the very end.”

As the ‘Ahn Cheol-soo card’, which was the last variable in the Prime Minister’s election, disappears, Yun is expected to nominate the new government’s first prime minister candidate as early as this weekend. It is known that Jang Je-won, the elected chief of staff, compressed the number of prime minister candidates three times and reported it to Yoon-elect. Only the process of selecting the final candidate after 4 or 5 days of internal personnel verification for the condensed candidate group remains.

President-elect Yoon’s side has focused on the concepts of ‘economy expert’ and ‘national unity’ and has been selecting candidates for prime minister. Previously, former Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, Kim Han-gil, chairman of the National Integration Committee of the Presidential Transition Committee, and Park Joo-seon, president of the Presidential Inauguration Preparation Committee, have been strongly reviewed.

Former Prime Minister Han has not had a long-term relationship with Yoon-elect, but he is close to former Prosecutor General Jeong Sang-myung, whom Yun trusts. It is known that former Prime Minister Han has been working with former President Chung for a long time at a forum that meets on a specific Wednesday each month.

Chairman Kim has a deep relationship and trust with Yoon-elect. In connection with the National Intelligence Service’s comment investigation case, he directly invited Yoon-elect to run for the general election in 2014 and 2015, when he was relegated to the Daegu High Prosecutors’ Office. However, there is a possibility that the transition committee, which is in charge of Chairman Kim, will become a permanent committee with a Prime Minister-level chairman after the new government is inaugurated. It is known that Chairman Kim has mentioned to those around him, “If the National Unification Committee becomes permanent, I want to take responsibility for it.” On the morning of the 29th, it was reported that President-elect Yoon held a separate meeting with Chairman Kim to ask his opinion about the Prime Minister’s appointment.

Chairman Park served as vice chairman of the National Assembly at the People’s Party. It is interpreted that the president-elect Yoon’s party unified the election process and included it in the candidate group in consideration of the promise of a ‘national unification government’ with Chairman Ahn. However, it is burdensome that Chairman Park is a special prosecutor of the prosecution.

As Yoon-elect’s side had in mind an ‘economic expert’ as a candidate for prime minister, former Financial Services Commission Chairman Lim Jong-ryong and former Minister of Knowledge Economy Choi Jung-kyung were also mentioned in the political arena. However, it is reported that Yoon-elect is considering the two as candidates for the deputy prime minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance rather than candidates for prime minister.
