Prosecutor Lee Bang-hyeon, who is being investigated for accepting various bribes from ‘fake fisherman’ Kim (43, in prison), borrowed an expensive imported car in Kim’s name for free for a considerable period of time, the police confirmed on the 1st. done.

The period of the charges was when Lee was serving as the chief prosecutor of the first criminal division of the Pohang Branch of the Daegu District Prosecutors’ Office. Prior to coming to Pohang, he served as the deputy chief prosecutor of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors’ Office until August 2019, and worked at the Pohang Branch until September last year. Afterwards, he became the second chief prosecutor of the Financial Investigation Division of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors’ Office, but was demoted to the deputy chief prosecutor in July after the incident was revealed.

Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, where the deputy chief prosecutor stayed for over a year, is the base of the fake fisherman Mr. Kim. Previously, former Special Prosecutor Park Young-soo said, “I introduced Mr. Kim (a fisherman) as a person to be helped by local circumstances, gave him his phone number, and introduced him to Mr. He admitted that he introduced him to Mr. Kim.

Deputy Chief Prosecutor Lee worked together with Park Geun-hye’s ‘Park Geun-hye National Nongdan’ special prosecutor’s team.

Former special prosecutor Park is also accused of borrowing a Porsche Panamera 4 from Mr. Kim, a fake fisherman, in December of last year. What has been confirmed so far is the point in time when the charge of the deputy chief prosecutor is earlier. The vehicles they received are worth 200 to 300 million won based on the price of a new car, and they are the highest quality imported sports cars that are comparable to ‘super cars’.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Violent Crime Investigation Team, which is investigating Lee and former Special Prosecutor Park, is focusing on calculating the value of the rental car, paying particular attention to the period of use. The rental cost of these vehicles ranges from as low as 300,000 won to as high as 1.2 million won per day depending on the type of vehicle.

In response, former special prosecutor Park explained, “The rental car cost 2.5 million won was paid after the fact.” While the allegations revealed to former Special Prosecutor Park so far are allegations of ‘short-term use’, the deputy chief prosecutor is said to have used the vehicle more frequently on weekends.

According to the Anti-Graft Act, a public official will be subject to criminal punishment if he or she receives more than 1 million won at a time or 3 million won in total per year. In addition, if the cost is confirmed, you can be punished regardless of the amount.

Previously, the alleged charges against the deputy chief prosecutor were from Mr. Kim, including a watch from the Swiss luxury brand ‘IWC’, cash, and payment of school expenses for children. It is said that the charges of paying IWC watches and school fees have not been confirmed yet.

Meanwhile, the police are also looking into whether the money received by the deputy chief prosecutor and others is ‘returnable’. If the payment is confirmed, the charge of bribery is added, and in the case of a case of bribery by an incumbent prosecutor, it is the subject of investigation by the Crime Investigation Office for High-Level Public Officials.

The key to whether or not it will pay off is the ‘Konkuk University Optimus’ case. Konkuk University was found to have invested 12 billion won in the school’s real estate rental deposit in the Optimus Fund without the approval of the board of directors and the Ministry of Education. Yoo Ja-eun, the current chairman, was investigated for embezzlement and breach of trust, but the ‘prosecution’s non-prosecution’ was ordered.

The fact that former Chairman Kim, former Special Prosecutor Park, Deputy Chief Prosecutor Lee, and Mr. Kim, a fake fisherman, had several golf meetings and dinner meetings together has been confirmed through photos of multiple reports secured by CBS Nocut News.

In the investigation of this deputy chief prosecutor, it cannot be ruled out that key clues to prove the charges, including violations of the Anti-Graft Act and whether or not bribery was established, remain on his cell phone. However, the police are having a hard time unlocking the latest security features of the Samsung Galaxy phone by the deputy chief prosecutor.

For this reason, there is also an observation that the police may apply for an arrest warrant for the deputy chief prosecutor in relation to concerns about ‘destroying evidence’. In this case, it seems that the contents of the criminal charges received by the deputy chief prosecutor must be proven to a large extent. Earlier, on the 11th of last month, the police summoned Lee once for investigation.

In this regard, CBS Nocut News tried to contact Lee by phone and text message to hear the position of the deputy chief prosecutor, but there was no reply.

So far, a total of eight people, including Kim, have been booked by the police in relation to the ‘fake fisherman’ case. Former Special Prosecutor Park and Deputy Chief Prosecutor Lee, former Pohang Southern Police Chief Superintendent Bae, former editorial member Lee Dong-hoon of Chosun Ilbo, anchor Seong-seop Um of TV Chosun, reporter Jeongmo of TV Chosun, and reporter aunt of JoongAng Ilbo.

Among them, former special prosecutor Park is the only person who has not been summoned and investigated by the police. The police are planning to summon former special prosecutor Park during this week to investigate.
