The Olympic women’s table tennis team lost to Germany after a close five sets in the semi-finals of the team event.

Our national team, which consists of captain Jeon Ji-hee (29, POSCO Energy), Shin Yu-bin (17, Korean Air), and Choi Hyo-joo (23, Samsung Life Insurance), won the ‘World Rankings’ in the quarterfinals of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic women’s table tennis team event held at the Tokyo Gymnasium on the 3rd. 3rd place’ Germany ended the Olympic race by losing 2-3 against Germany.

Jeon Ji-hee and Shin Yu-bin joined the doubles in the first match, which was the most important for dominating the baseline.

In the 4th match, Shin Yu-bin, a ‘table tennis prodigy’ appeared. The opponent was Han Ying, who defeated Choi Hyo-joo in the second set. After losing the first set 6-11, Shin Yu-bin persisted and won the second set. However, Han Ying, who is strong defensively, skillfully caught Shin Yu-bin’s batted ball. Shin Yubin, who gave up 3 sets again, started a desperate pursuit by hitting fireworks in a situation where he was behind by 4 points in 4 sets, but he could not break through Han Ying’s cut and bowed his head.

Choi Hyo-joo, who played in the last five singles matches, lost to San Shaona 0-3 (8-11, 6-11, 9-11), and the Korean women’s table tennis team was eliminated in the quarterfinals.

The Korean women’s table tennis won the bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympic team event, and then recorded a no-medal medal in three consecutive competitions.
