[바이크매거진]Increase aero performance with an integrated handlebar, Cielo Elliott

ELLIOT CELLO was announced in 2011 and has maintained its position as Cello’s flagship road bike until now. Of course, the first appearance and the current appearance are completely different, but the name Elliot is engraved in the rider’s mind.
After its first release, Elliott has been gradually upgraded to this year’s model, and has improved its completeness with aero, disc brakes, and full internal cabling.

The Elliot integrated handlebar was first introduced in 2022, but only a small amount was shipped so it was called a unicorn among cyclists. So, it was difficult to see a handle integrated with Elliott’s legs in real life, but the 23-year-old model has been in stock since last month and can be checked in store.

The stem-integrated handlebar is an item that completes the recent road bike trend, and an integrated design that does not expose cables is applied as standard. In this integrated cockpit, cables are located inside the handlebar and frame to prevent cable damage, and a clean appearance is completed along with performance upgrades that reduce air resistance.
In addition, when attaching accessories to the handlebar, there is no interference with cables, which is convenient.
Elliot uses the mounts on the bottom of the handlebars to easily mount accessories such as bike computers, lights and black boxes. Because the Elliot’s handlebars are aero designed, they require the use of aero mounts. Meanwhile The cello’s handlebar is color matched to the frame to enhance the sense of unity.
The stem spacer is divided into left and right side, so you can adjust the height of the handle freely.

The angle of the stem is set horizontally to the ground at -17 degrees, and the same color as the frame further enhances the sense of unity.

Cables are kept in the handlebar and stem, so there are no exposed cables leading to the head tube.
Accessories are mounted using the mounts on the bottom.

The stem spacer can be separated to the left and right to easily change the height of the handlebar.

In addition to the clean appearance, it is advantageous to improve aerodynamic performance.

Aero design and disc brakes


Elliott’s current look inherits the Elliott 2019 frame as is. At the time, the cello used Kamm’s tail-shaped tubes and a redesigned frame design to improve Elliott’s aerodynamic performance. Additionally, the ‘seat tube cutout’ design where the seat tube covers the rear wheel prevents vortex generation, and a saddle clamp system is used with a wide saddle offset setting range.
As a result of CFD measurement, it reduces air resistance by 19% compared to the previous model, following the latest trend as an aero-based racing bike.

As of 2023, the Elliott rim brake model (S series) has been discontinued, and only disc brake models are released. The disc brake is an option chosen in terms of the thermal deformation stability of the carbon rim and the reliability of the braking force, and is optimized for full internal cable work.

The Elliot frame, applied from the 2019 model, reduces air resistance by 19% compared to the previous model.

Kammtail shaped tubes and seat tube cutouts increase aero performance by reducing turbulence.

A saddle clamp system that can adjust the offset of the saddle relatively freely

32C tires can also be fitted.

It is now only available as a disc brake model.

Specifications and geometry


In 2023, Elliott will release a 12-speed E7 Shimano 105 Di2, 11-speed Ultegrain D8, and 11-speed 105 D7 electric drivetrain model. Among the D8 models, models with compact 50/34T chainrings are marked with a separate ‘(C)’.

Map the 2023 season with a cello


The Cielo Elliott verifies the aero design through computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and is positioned as an aero road race bike with an aero handlebar and seatpost. In addition, by switching to an integrated all-in-one design, the viewing satisfaction of the bike has been further increased with a cleaner cockpit.

Cello is growing as a brand preferred by domestic consumers by providing new products incorporating the latest trends and drivetrains one after the other at reasonable prices. In addition, Sielo is leading the domestic bike culture by hosting the Sielo Riding Challenge which will make riding fun. In the ‘Cellin Map’, which shows 52 courses that represent Korea on the map, you can feel a sense of achievement by scratching the places you’ve been to, and Cielo is holding an event related to the cello map.
