[박스오피스IS] ‘Sinkhole’, a cool box office hit 1.14 million ↑… ‘Mogadishu’ breaks new record for Korean film in 2021

Two Korean films occupied the theater district.

According to the Korea Film Council’s integrated computer network for movie theater tickets, ‘Sink Hall’ mobilized 211,477 spectators on the 16th. The cumulative number of spectators is 1,141,829.

It has surpassed 1 million viewers on the 6th day of its release, showing the fastest box-office trend among Korean films released this year. In addition, it is the fastest speed among Korean films since ‘But Save Me from Evil’, which surpassed 1 million viewers on the 4th day of its release in August of last year.

‘Sinkhole’ is a disaster buster that takes place when my house, which I prepared for the first time in 11 years, falls into a super-large sinkhole 500m underground. Cha Seung-won, Kim Seong-gyun, Lee Kwang-soo, Kim Hye-jun, Kwon So-hyun, Nam Da-reum, etc. appeared, and ‘Tower’ director Kim Ji-hoon took the megaphone.

‘Mogadishu’ is still hot. It recorded 123,966 daily spectators and 2,442,972 cumulative spectators on that day.

It surpassed ‘Fast and Furious: The Ultimate’ (2,442,972) and ranked second at the box office this year. There are about 500,000 people left until the first place ‘Black Widow’ (2,94,549 people). Expectations are high whether it will be able to hold the title of the top-grossing film in 2021 by continuing the box office boom.

‘Mogadishu’ is the story of the escape of the people isolated from the civil war in the capital of Somalia in 1991 at the risk of life or death. Director Ryoo Seung-wan’s new film, starring Kim Yun-seok, Jo In-seong, Heo Jun-ho, Koo Gwan-sik, Kim So-jin, Jeong Man-sik, Kim Jae-hwa, and Park Kyung-hye.
