Even if a major accident occurs immediately, the dizzying situation repeats itself, but the investigation into defects by the relevant agencies shows no sign of a conclusion.

The successive Benz S580 engine shutdown problem is assumed to be a 48V battery related defect.

Mercedes-Benz also performed free repairs for other models using the same battery last year.

However, the related agency, the Ministry of Lands, Infrastructure and Transport, has been investigating deficiencies for over a year and three months.

The subject of the investigation by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is a sub-model with similar problems as the CLS, but the Mercedes-Benz side draws a line saying that it is separate from the problem that appears in the top – end model S580.

Moreover, even if the results of the investigation are released, it is very likely that the recall will not result in a mandatory correction order on the manufacturer.

This is because there is no clear regulation in Korea, unlike Japan and other countries, which states that defects that prevent automobiles from starting are subject to recall.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport explained that it is difficult to conclude that the problem with the S580, which has been confirmed in the investigation so far, is a defect affecting safety, as it is estimated that is the engine off. while driving but restarts after stopping.
