The plan to implement the fine dust seasonal control system, which will be implemented this winter, has been completed.

The plan is to reduce ultrafine dust and its substances produced by up to 10% compared to the same period last year, but vehicles with level 5 emission gas will be restricted from operating in Busan and Daegu in addition to the metropolitan area, and the operation of coal-fired power plants will be suspended.

From next month, the operation of class 5 vehicles that emit large amounts of ultrafine dust will be restricted again.

Until the end of March next year, vehicles cannot be operated between 6:00 am and 9:00 pm during the week. From December, in addition to the metropolitan area, restrictions on the operation of class 5 vehicles will be mandatory in Busan and Daegu, and pilot campaigns will be implemented in Sejong and Ulsan.

Up to 14 coal-fired power plants will also be closed, and the output of up to 44 units will be restricted to 80% in response to an energy crisis.

Fine dust control will also be strengthened in around 350 large workplaces.

It is expected that the effectiveness of the enforcement will be greatly increased as it provides a target for reducing fine dust and the introduction of new remote spectral monitoring equipment to continuously measure the concentration of air pollutants in distant or inaccessible emission sources by irradiating ultraviolet rays or infrared.

Blocking the causes of fine dust in rural and urban areas, and reinforcing the conflict in the use of old construction machinery and breaking fugitive dust prevention measures in construction sites.

The government also advanced the forecast of high concentration of fine dust in the metropolitan area from 12 hours ago to 36 hours ago, and announced that it would support outdoor workers such as high concentration city construction, environmental cleaning, and distribution services.
