[사회]”CO2 gas leak, manual valve was open”…intentional investigation

In connection with an accident where carbon dioxide gas leaked from a new construction site in Gasan-dong, Seoul, killing two people and injuring 19 people, the police are focusing on understanding how the manual valve was opened at the time.

The police called the construction site manager yesterday evening (24th) to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident, including the reason why the manual valve of the fire extinguishing facility was open at the time of the accident.

Yesterday (24th), as a result of an investigation by the fire department and others, it was reported that the manual valve switch of the carbon dioxide fire extinguishing facility on the 3rd basement floor where the accident occurred was open, raising suspicions that someone intentionally opened the valve and caused the accident.

However, a police official said that the accident could be caused by a malfunction of the fire extinguishing system, and that various possibilities are open.

Earlier, yesterday (24th) around 8:50 am, carbon dioxide for fire suppression leaked from the 3rd basement floor of a new building construction site in Gasan-dong, Seoul, killing two workers and seriously injuring 19 people, including respiratory organs.
