As delivery increases due to COVID-19, ice packs that accumulate from house to house are a cause of environmental pollution if they are thrown away carelessly.
So some of you may be wondering how to deal with it.
Reporter Hwang Bo Hye-kyung visited the site where ice packs are recycled to protect the environment and do good work.

A resident who gathered two hands full of ice packs visited the community center.
I was willing to talk about the meaningful use of ice packs, which were difficult to treat.

Gel-type ice packs are made of microplastics, and if thrown away carelessly, it will pollute the environment.
Ichon 1-dong Community Center collects them and reuses them as ice vests for medical staff and cleaning workers at screening clinics.

Seongdong-gu Office has also installed ice pack collection boxes in 17 places in the building.
This is a collection box for ice packs installed in front of the Dong Community Center.
It is so well-received by the residents that the collection bins are full.
After cleaning and disinfecting at the local self-help center, they are sent to market merchants for free.
For merchants, it saves money and saves the environment.
