Prosecutors are simultaneously raiding Samsung Electronics headquarters and Welstory in connection with allegations of unfair support for Samsung Welstory.
The Fair Trade Investigation Department of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office is sending prosecutors and investigators to the Samsung Electronics headquarters in Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do and Samsung Welstory headquarters in Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si on the morning of the 28th to secure related data.
The prosecution explained that last year, the Fair Trade Commission and civic groups were still investigating the case according to the normal procedure, and that the search and seizure was carried out with a court warrant to the minimum extent necessary.
In addition, he added that although there are many voices of concern in relation to the investigation, we are proceeding with the charges in a strict and unbiased manner.
Previously, in June last year, the Fair Trade Commission imposed a correction order and a fine of 230 billion won, accusing four Samsung Group affiliates of unfairly driving in-house meals to Samsung Welstory. filed a complaint with the prosecution.
Since then, the prosecution has investigated the former executives of the Samsung Future Strategy Office and the authors of the so-called ‘Project G’ document, which was designated as the plan for the succession of management rights of the Samsung Group.
Also, recently, the Fair Trade Investigation Department, which was in charge of the investigation, supported two prosecutors belonging to the Anti-Corruption and Violent Investigation Department, and added four separate prosecutors to increase the number of two teams to three.
When the warrant was previously dismissed, the prosecution conducted a reinforcement investigation and re-applied for a search and seizure warrant and was issued.
