The management of a large planning real estate group was handed over to the prosecution in connection with a 250 billion won real estate fraud case involving 3,000 victims, including Hallyu star singer Taeyeon.
The Suseo Police Station in Seoul announced today (29th) that four representatives of a planning and real estate group affiliate were sent to the prosecution on charges of fraud and violation of the Farmland Act under the Specific Economic Crimes Act.
The planning real estate group is accused of deceiving and selling about 280 lots of land that is virtually impossible to develop, such as an animal and plant conservation zone or a development restriction zone, by saying, “I know undisclosed development information.”
As a result of the police investigation, it was revealed that the planning real estate group sold the land to about 3,000 victims, and the damage amounted to 250 billion won.
Among the victims were Taeyeon, a member of the girl group Girls’ Generation, and the chairman of a small business with sales of 160 billion won.
The police plan to continue the investigation by collecting additional cases of damage even after sending the case to the prosecution.
