As the COVID-19 omicron mutation became the dominant species, the number of confirmed cases approached 6,000 nationwide by 6 pm on the 24th.
According to the quarantine authorities, a total of 5,869 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in 17 cities and provinces across the country from 00:00 to 6pm on the same day.
It is the first case since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Korea that there were more than 5,000 confirmed cases at this time. On the 22nd, the previous record high of 4,791 in the same time period was exceeded, and a new record high came out.
This is an increase of 1,454 people from the same time count the day before.
Last week (17th-23rd), the detection rate of domestic Omicron mutation was 50.3%, confirming that Omicron has become a dominant species in Korea.
