In a statement on the afternoon of the 28th, Rep. Seong Il-jong, the head of the People’s Power TV debate working-level negotiation group, said, “I sincerely welcome the proposals for the bilateral discussion on January 31 and the four-party discussion on February 3, respectively, proposed by the People’s Power.” said.
“I request that the working-level negotiations begin immediately,” he said.
Previously, Park Jumin, head of the broadcasting debate contents of the Democratic Party, said in a briefing at the company after the working-level meeting of the terrestrial broadcasting debates of the three ruling and opposition parties excluding the people’s power, “It was agreed to hold a four-party discussion at 20:00 on February 3.”
He said, “The Power of the People must confirm participation in the four-party debate on February 3,” he said.
However, the People’s Party requested the Democratic Party to withdraw from the bilateral discussion agreement, saying, “The power of the people and the Democratic Party’s bilateral discussion is an act of ‘collusion’ that ignores the purpose of the court’s decision.
Previously, Ahn Cheol-soo, a candidate of the People’s Party, submitted an ‘application for an injunction to ban broadcasting of the presidential election invitation debate’ to the Seoul Western District Court on the 19th. Accordingly, the court decided that the three terrestrial broadcasters, including KBS, MBC, and SBS, should not conduct or broadcast broadcast debates with the exception of candidate Ahn.
The bilateral discussion between Candidate Lee and Candidate Yoon is expected to be broadcast through YouTube channels of the ruling and opposition parties. The Democratic Party and the People’s Power are scheduled to enter into working-level negotiations to finalize a detailed discussion agenda.
