The number of new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Korea has risen to 2,000 for two days in a row. In the metropolitan area, 1,400 confirmed cases were confirmed for the second day.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) said that as of 00:00 on the 8th, there were 2,049 confirmed cases of Corona 19 in Korea.

Of the new cases, 2,018 came from the community. There were 1,407 confirmed cases in the metropolitan area alone, including 660 in Seoul, 639 in Gyeonggi and 108 in Incheon. It follows the record high of 1,476 people the day before.

The death toll increased by nine, bringing the total to 2,343. The number of severe cases of gastritis decreased by 21 to 366.

Meanwhile, a total of 31,709,767 people responded to the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine since February. The ratio of primary vaccinations to the population is 61.8%. There were 19,115,022 people who completed the second vaccination, or 37.2% of the population.
