On the 28th, the 5th day of the strike, the government raised the emergency alert level to the highest level, ‘serious’. The general strike was deemed to increase the logistics damage.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said, “The raising of the emergency alert level is a measure that takes into account the fact that the refusal of transport has spread throughout the country, that transport disruptions at major logistics facilities such as ports continue, and that disruptions when processing import and export cargo.” .

“The purpose is to use all the government’s capabilities to reduce the damage to the national economy and other things caused by the collective refusal of transport,” he explained. As a result, the level of emergency alerts in the field of land freight has been raised from ‘warning’ to ‘severe’.

When an emergency occurs, the government implements an emergency alert system that includes four stages: ‘interest’ → ‘warning’ → ‘warning’ → ‘serious’.

As the level of emergency alerts rises to the highest level, related ministries are holding a meeting of the Central Security and Disaster Countermeasures Headquarters chaired by Minister of Public Administration and Security Lee Sang-min at 10:00 am on the same day to discuss specific measures to respond to the general strike of the cargo unions. He is also scheduled to hold a meeting with the cargo union in the afternoon.
