[스포티비뉴스=김건일 기자] The Korean Under-23 (U-23) national team won the first match of the qualifying round.
Korea defeated the Philippines 3-0 in the first round of Group H of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-23 Asian Cup qualifier held at Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore on the 25th (Korean time).
Gyu-hyuk Lee (Asan, Chungcheongnam-do) and Jae-hyeon Ko (Seoul E-Land FC) contributed one goal and one assist side by side, and Jeong-in Park (Busan I’Park) scored the key goal.
After hitting the Philippine post twice and finishing the first half 0-0, Korea scored three goals only in the second half.
In the 6th minute of the second half, Ko Jae-hyun’s cross from the left flank was finished by Lee Kyu-hyuk’s head. Lee Kyu-hyuk became the first goalkeeper of Hwang Seon-hong.
The additional goal was scored by Ko Jae-hyeon, who assisted in the opening goal. The second goal also started from the left flank. Koh Jae-hyeon, who sits on the right flank, received a low cross from Lee Kyu-hyuk and put it into the goal with his left foot.
Korea Republic, who continued to knock on the goal of the Philippines, consolidated the lead with a header from Park Jeong-in in the 43rd minute of the second half. Kyu-Hyeok Lee contributed.
In the Asian Cup Qualifier, which is divided into East and West Asia regions and consists of 11 groups, only the top 4 teams from the first and second places in each group advance to the finals. Uzbekistan automatically advances to the final stage as the host country.
Korea was in Group H along with the Philippines, East Timor and Singapore.
On the 28th, they will play the second group stage match against East Timor.
